The future of home appliances components

2090

Rold has developed new Sensors, Smart Encoders and a Digital Connected Platform for the future (but also the present) of the Home and Professional Appliances
Rold, an Italian company with production in three factories near Milan, which for more than 50 years has been producing technological components for the household appliance market, has dynamically faced the digital transformation in recent years and the whirling market of appliances, getting closer and closer to a B2B2C model.
«Actuators, sensors, security systems, all transform into potential “communicators”, able to connect the end user with the product/company/service ecosystem – explains Stefano Rocchitelli, Chief Technical Officer of the group situated in the North of Milan. – Even a component, a sensor, a technological solution that we supply and will supply to our partners, must be designed, projected and manufactured according to functions that take into account the new trends and the new needs of the digital, connected and experiential world of consumers.»
«We actually enter into a new market for us, but with the same reputation that has always distinguished us: creativity, reliability and quality, – continues Stefano Rocchitelli -. It was not easy the renew an existing component, analogical and mechatronics, still guaranteeing a performance/price ratio of high level: we succeeded in it with the new Rold Capacitive Pressure Sensor, conceived, developed and patented by the internal R&D department. The sensor has dimensions substantially reduced (it is much more compact than existing models), guarantees a highly linear reading and the number of components has been reduced and therefore the environmental impact (we pay great attention to sustainability). In addition, it is characterized by extreme flexibility in terms of customization and so by a wide range, possibility of retrofitting on existing machines. Obviously, it has a continuous reading, laser calibration and can generate a digital signal. In fact we enter with a product with a high marketing potential, especially on the most competitive markets like the Asian one.»
The Rold components are installed on about 50 million household appliances a year all over the world and this certifies the actual skills of the company in the sector. Stefano Rocchitell adds: «We have also developed a Smart Encoder that enables connectivity also in retrofit on ovens and washing machines already in production (can be mounted without having to change the assembly procedures) and the digital platform to which it is connected allows control functionality for the end user.»
